Silicon Carbide Waterproof Sandpaper
Waterproof silicon carbide sandpaper is made using carefully selected silicon carbide as the abrasive material, combined with a water-proof, flexible, and durable latex paper base. It is produced using an electrostatic sanding process, resulting in a high-quality abrasive paper. This product features an exceptionally long service life, resistance to curling, and minimal deformation. Water-proof sandpaper is widely used in processes such as removing dirt spots, orange peel, and adjusting the texture of painted surfaces after spraying. The durable backing provides a consistent and stable grinding surface, while the sharp silicon carbide abrasive particles make paint surface treatment work easy and efficient.
Material Composition
Abrasive: The main component is silicon carbide, with a Mohs hardness of 9.55, second only to diamond, offering extremely high hardness and sharpness. It can quickly and effectively cut various materials while maintaining stable grinding performance over extended use.
Backing: Typically made from high-quality waterproof latex paper or specially treated polyester film. Waterproof latex paper backing offers excellent flexibility, allowing it to closely adhere to the surfaces of various shaped workpieces; polyester film backing, on the other hand, is stronger, more tear-resistant, and has superior waterproof performance.
Binder: Resin-based binders are typically used to securely bond the silicon carbide abrasive particles to the backing, ensuring they do not detach during grinding and maintaining the sandpaper's lifespan and grinding performance.
Metal Processing Industry: Widely used in surface treatment of metal materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and copper, including removing oxide scale, polishing, rust removal, and grinding weld seams, to enhance the surface quality, smoothness, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic appeal of metal products.
Automotive Repair and Beauty Industry: Plays a crucial role in automotive body repair, pre-painting surface preparation, scratch removal, grinding of old paint layers, and the repair and polishing of automotive components. It restores the automotive surface to a smooth and flat condition, achieving optimal painting results.
Aerospace Industry: Used in the processing and surface treatment of components for aircraft and rockets, such as grinding high-strength metals and composite materials, to ensure component precision and surface quality, meeting the stringent material performance requirements of the aerospace industry.
• Electronics industry: Suitable for precision grinding of various small parts in electronic products, such as semiconductor chips and electronic component housings, achieving surface fineness below 0.5 microns to meet the high precision requirements of electronic products.
• Woodworking industry: Used for surface finishing, polishing, and deburring of wood, making the wood surface smoother and more delicate, facilitating subsequent painting, waxing, and other treatments, and improving the quality and aesthetics of wood products.
Stone processing industry: Grinding and polishing of marble, granite, and other stones can improve the surface texture of the stone, enhance its gloss, and make stone products more aesthetically pleasing and durable.
High hardness and wear resistance: Capable of handling high-hardness materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, and ceramics. During grinding of these materials, it maintains excellent grinding performance, with abrasive wear occurring slowly even after prolonged use, resulting in a long service life of the sandpaper.
Excellent heat resistance: It can operate normally in high-temperature environments without deformation, discoloration, or abrasive loss due to temperature increases. It is suitable for grinding processes requiring high-temperature conditions, such as surface processing after metal heat treatment.
Excellent water resistance: Utilizes high-quality resin coatings and latex additives, allowing it to remain submerged in water for extended periods without performance degradation. During wet grinding, it maintains uniform and stable grinding performance, preventing swelling, deformation, or damage caused by water absorption.
High grinding efficiency: Silicon carbide particles are small and sharp, with strong cutting force. During grinding, they can quickly remove impurities such as rust, oxide scale, burrs, and old paint layers from the material surface, achieving high grinding efficiency and effectively reducing processing time.
High surface finish: It can achieve a high surface finish on the workpiece being ground, especially when using fine-grit silicon carbide waterproof sandpaper for precision grinding. This meets the requirements of processes with high surface quality standards, such as the processing of precision instrument components and optical lenses.
Grit classification: Silicon carbide waterproof sandpaper has a wide range of grit sizes. Common coarse-grit sandpapers include 60 grit, 80 grit, and 100 grit, primarily used for quickly removing large amounts of material, eliminating severe surface defects, or performing preliminary grinding; Medium-grit sandpaper, such as 240 grit, 400 grit, and 600 grit, is suitable for further smoothing surfaces and removing smaller defects; Fine-grit sandpaper, such as 800 grit, 1000 grit, 1200 grit, and above, is used for fine grinding and polishing to achieve a mirror-like surface finish.
